    Speaking of this place, Aloguinsan is the 4th class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines.The town has drawn many comparisons of fictional town of "Stars Hollow" on the American-based TV series Gilmore Girls, mainly due to it's perfect balance of aesthetics and beauty, mixed with a strong sense of a close-knilt community.

From a small quaint fishing village fed by rivers in ancient times, Aloguinsan grew and become a formally recognized town in 1886. But that doesn’t mean our town lacks a storied past. For a start, there is a Spanish fort on top of a hill. An American-inspired roundabout dominates the town’s business district. And a river runs through where Japanese boats once ferried war supplies.

    HISTORY

    Aloguinsan was formerly  a barrio of Pinamungajan.It was created a town by virtue of the Royal Decree of the King of Spain in 1886. The first captain was Felomino Nengasca who become the first " Captain Municipal"

 Balwarte, a historic landmark,  still stands as a mute testimony to the courage of the early inhabitants of Aloguinsan.Because of Moro attacks, the natives, under the supervision of the Spaniards constructed a watchtower on the top of a hill at the mouth of the river.From this vantage point, they could see the incoming Moro vintas.

 The historic hill of Villona between Olango & Cawasan was also the site of battle between the American forces & Filipino Revolutionist.

  BOJO RIVER. the mystical river is the best place to do kayaking along it's mangrove  forest in both sides.The place also is the host for about 60 species of endemic and resident birds.The eco-cultural tour takes you Bojo River, one
of the major tributaries in Aloguinsan, where a community of fishermen and their families operate the educational and entertaining tour.

Package includes mangrove ecology and bird wildlife lecture, handicraft demo, a buffet lunch and a snack and a cruise down the river. Tour proceeds fund community projects and provide alternative income to the families.

  BEACHES.ther are several wonderful beaches in town offering great ambiance & superb sea foods.Some of the beaches available in area are BANTAYAN BEACH, HIDDEN BEACH, KANTABOGON BEACH & TAP-ANAN BEACH.

 ULBOHAN UNDERGROUND RIVER.located in Sitio Ulbohan. It's mystical mountains hide extensive cave formations that would tickle the interest of  every spelunker.

  

   FESTIVAL

'KINSAN FESTIVAL OF ALOGUINSAN"

    Every June, they celebrate the famous " Kinsan Festival" namedfor a fish that is usually abundant in the month of May to July. The town fiesta is celebrated during the 23rd & 24th day of October in honor of the patron saint, St. Rafael the Archangel.
